Changes & Travels

My three musketeers!

Time sure does fly, doesn't it?? This photo was taken on Cape Cod about 6 or 7 years ago at our favorite beach. See that rock that they're leaning on??! That's MERMAID ROCK. When the tide comes in on Cape Cod Bay, that rock is submerged in water, with only the top of it gleaming in the sun. The girls (and Brad, but of course, he was a merMAN ~ don't tell him I told you, okay?!) would play that they were mermaids for hours and hours. Good times, good memories of summers on the cape. They sure thought that they were all grown up when this picture was taken. Little did they know, they had alot more growin' up to do!

Brad has graduated from college, working, happy and basically living the good life. Becca has been living in Boston, on her own, and is moving to Washington DC. She's been in Boston since her Northeastern University days, and is leaving the sweetest little apartment in The North End, but she's ready for a change and got an offer she couldn't refuse! She found a fabulous apartment in the D.C. area. AND I QUOTE "Mom, wait til you see it, the building was built in the 1940s and it's got a retro black and white tile floor and the original glass door knobs". . . . . . Have I told you lately that I love you?! Only a child of mine would take a photo of the original 1940s glass door knob and send it to her mother. . . . . sigh.

We are headed out today, leaving Connecticut, picking up the UHaul in Boston, loading it up while double parked on the narrow streets of The North End, spending the night with my MIL and then headed to DC in the morning. Should be fun, especially with all that D.C. heat and humidity . . . . so happy for my girl!

Back on Monday, and we'll turn around and move Rach back to college. Big change for her this year, as she can have her car on campus this year * woohoo! The official UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT parking sticker is in place and she's ready to go. She's spent the summer working with 8 year olds, good training for her chosen field, the girl has wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Back in second grade, she dressed up as a teacher for 20/20 day, and she's stuck to the plan! I must admit, it will be nice to have her drive herself back and forth, though I will miss that stretch of I-84 that I've become so fond of * NOT!

So there you have it, our end of summer travels! I'll be MIA for a week or so while we get everybody where they need to be, then it's onto my post-summer routine of being knee deep in vintage textiles & treasures with three hounds happily snoring by my feet!

Here's hoping that YOU have a fabulous end to this summer, too ~ back in a bit! xoxo P

Love that photo, P! My how your brood has grown since then, and ironically that beach has changed as well (erosion has taken its toll bigtime there the last couple of years... you wouldn't recognize the place)! Great that you've captured it! ;)

First post on the new blog... big changes this year! HUGS!

I would love to go to Brimfield someday. That would be wonderful - I have heard so much about it. I noted that your name is Patrice. I went to elementary school with a Patrice - the only one with that name I have ever known. Lovely name.
