New England Treasure Hunt

We've had some fabulous Estate Sales here in Connecticut this week! I was bringing all my treasures into the house today and thought it would be fun to share what I found.
First up, some fabulous vintage tablecloths & kitschy kitchen stuff:

Love those vintage dish drainers ~ one in Cherry Red and the other Aqua . . . so retro, but the real deal!

Next, a sweet petite covered picnic basket, old floral lampshade and rose wallpaper covered petite hat box. Old ironstone creamer and a darling vintage baby quilt! I love the old white painted frame on a stand, too, lots of ornate carving and the original somewhat chippy white paint with a fabulous patina.

A nice large bunch of vintage hangers, covered with old chintz roses and several rolls of old rayon seam binding ~ yummy colors!

Last but not least, an old 1930s room divider screen, covered with a different vintage wallpaper on each side. I'm really loving this, but it truly does not fit with my decor ~ so off it will go! Just not sure if I should paint it a nice cottage-y white? It's painted a deep Chocolate Brown (the original paint) and I know that's there's something to be said for preserving the integrity of the original piece? I dunno, let me know what you think, will you? I'm really torn with this one.

My website has been under reconstruction and most of the rooms are finished, as I continue to stock them up with new vintage goodies, but I'll have another post on that later. Sooooooo, hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and if you're treasure hunting, hope you find lots of goodies!

Goin' Green, Baby!

Growing up in Massachusetts, and still with deep roots there, I've always loved the Celtics, even before I was really a sports fan and passionate about my beloved Red Sox. Back in the day there was just nothing like A Celtics/Lakers game at The Garden, and lo and behold, I feel as though I've gone back in time!

Photobucket

Congrats to The 2008 Boston Celtics for a good old fashioned A$$ Kicking of The L.A. Lakers!

Photobucket
KG * what a guy! The most amazing player, and just a class act all the way ~ no sign of any NBA punk here!
Photobucket
Paul Pierce * hung in there with The Celtics all those lean years and finally got it done with a little help from his friends, securing his place in Celtics history.
Photobucket
Ray Allen * Quite simply, I'm in love with Ray Allen, the pride of UCONN! An incredible addition to The Celtics starting line up, always a gentleman, I heart you, Ray . . . .
Photobucket
. . . .but my favorite player, The amazing Leon Powe. Leon was born in 1984, the same year my Brad was born. Leon spent much of his young life homeless, living on the streets of Oakland, California with his 4 siblings and his mom, and somehow, he managed to overcome all of the difficulty that life handed him at such a young age. His mom passed away, and never got to see him play at the professional level, but he always remembers . . . . . he grew up, went on to graduate from High School and College, and eventually found his way to Boston through the NBA, and on top of all that, he's just a really nice kid!

Congratulations to the 2008 Boston Celtics for a fabulous turnaround season ~ GO GREEN takes on a whole new meaning, dont'cha think??!

Newsy Stuff and New Stuff

Hola Bloggie Buds!

I've seriously been MIA lately, seems like I just can't get caught up on things around here. Summer is a busy time for us. Kids home from college, coming and going, flea marketing & crafting and just plain keeping up with the website, ebay and etsy, my crazy hound dogs, family commitments & travel and . . . and. .

Rachel is home for the summer and is transferring from one college to another. She'll be attending The University of Connecticut in the Fall, and we just had her transfer orientation this week. She's very excited for the move and is READY. Last year when she graduated from her very tiny Catholic high school, she went off to Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Very small, and she soon found out that she felt it was the "College version of Immaculate High School" ~ you know, where everyone knows everyone and everyTHING. We had looked at UCONN last year, but at the time, it felt too big and impersonal ~ now, a year later, it's a perfect fit for My Miss that has really grown up alot this year, so off she goes to Storrs, CT in September, about an hour and a half away from home. Just far enough, but not quite too far, y'know??. Otherwise, We've been busy bees with yardwork and all that summer and the good weather brings. I've been trying hard to work on some projects that I have had waiting in the wings for awhile, and finally managed to finish some of them, take a peek:

I've got a thing for gingham, and found THE MUTHALOAD of these sweet cotton gingham towels, so what's a crafty gurl to do?? Embellish them with vintage linens & trims, of course!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I've had alot of fun with these and it's always good to be gettin' my crafty groove on! Next up, continuing with my Gingham Obsession, check out these aprons that Lola's sister is modeling for us!

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I mean, seriously, aren't these just adorable (she said, patting herself on the back ~ haha!) Darlin' red & white gingham aprons with Vintage Wilendur Tablecloth remnant pockets. I've got tons of them in the works and enjoy each and every one, the whole process. These are listed on eBay and once my website makeover is complete, I'll have them there, and possibly on etsy. All those links are right over on my sidebar, FYI.

Last but not least, I've decided that my obsession with vintage linens is absolutely out of control, and that's the way it's gonna stay! A while back, I told myself that this buying season, I would not buy every single vintage tablecloth, towel, runner, apron, piece of fabric, etc, that I came across ~ well gurls, I'm here to tell ya, I've been a total failure at that, and that's just fine by me! Whenever I find one of these oldies, I just feel I've gotta rescue it and find it a good home, with me or with someone else ~ I just feel the need. So my quest and obsession continues HAPPILY!

These beauties below are listed on ebay now along with more pretties that are looking for good homes :) This week I've been soaking and sunning tons of vintage tablecloths & towels, getting them ready so stay tuned in the coming weeks for more kitschy tablecloths and towels.

Hope you're having a great week, wherever you are in the world!
